The fun part is getting the unit apart AND back together w/o the gut flying all over the place. Be sure to lift and remove everything VERY CAREFULLY! And agreed, it's easiest to shut the power off at the breaker and unmount the unit to work with it on a table or something. DO test the unit for power AFTER shutting off the breaker (fan and/or light.)

ALSO, some units have power 'passing through' them whereas there's a 2nd breaker that may need to be thrown. When removing the wire nuts, DON'T touch the wires until you've tested them w/a meter. (This is always a good practice because depending on how 'fixtures' are wired, you can still get shocked!)
