I vote for quick access to the pipes and stuff within the floor joists. When you rock it in, its pretty much sealed.

with a drop, it looks nice, easy accessible, easy to hang electrical appliances, replacable panels, and acts like an accoustical sound absorber.

Get a lazer level to make a nice level framing.
