The only way to do it right and correct is to have it sand blasted. This is a mess in the house.

Strippers will only remove the paint on flat and smoothe surfaces. The paint into the pores and cracks is the problem.

Would painting it another color to your choosing be in the cards at all?

Painted brick is usually a permanent thing.
