Yes, that works. The reason phone wires are
always in the form of twisted pairs is that
interference would happen if one wire was
always nearer to the power lines than the other.
Twisting them makes that alternate and cancel out.

For the TV cable, it's different. The signal is
all on the center conductor of the coax. It's
completely surrounded by a grounded shield, which
drains away any interference.
