you have all sorts of issues to consider and overcome. First, you have to hold back the soil and its forces against that wall. What is the wall to be made of? Then you have weep or moisture draining issues. Then being 10 foot high, you have wind and possibly code issues to contend with.

With the soil forces, most walls I have seen are built at an angle angled into the back yard area.

This has to be done right or it will tumble down with rains and drought times.
