From some reading I find that the concern with plastic venting is that a fire will start in the dryer (which is far more common than starting in the vent itself, which is what I thought the conern was) and upon venting the exhaust of the fire out the vent, the plastic may melt and cause nearby flammables to ignite. I'm wondering why gas dryers pose such a greater concern than electric in this situation - higher temps?
