any one missed or not done right will effect the entire working of the door.
I would guess that being "tight" could mean that the hinges are not mortised deep enough or not deep enough in the jamb.
You could have jambs that are not square. To tweek a door with this problem is done by shimming up either the top or bottom hinge. Sometimes a penny or folded paper is just enough to make the difference.
If the top of the door is tight then the bottom hinge can be shimmed out. Vice versa with the bottom hinge.
Just takes patience and working with it and understanding the mechanics of the door.
