Thanks for all the responses! You've given me some great information.

Let me clarify my concern about the seams: It's not just that I can see the line where the two pieces of carpet come together; I would understand that. I can actually see a line about two inches wide (an inch to either side). In fact, I'm in the office right now and notice it even more when the overhead lights are off and the light is coming in from an angle (i.e. through the windows).

There are seams that appear seamless. I mean, if I hadn't seen where they joined two seperate pieces of carpet, I'd think it was one piece. I suspect I'm noticing the difference in the work of two different individual installers.

The problem is that I'm in a small town, and being the new guy (from "The Big City") I'm afraid to make waves by complaining. That's why I was hoping there were things we could try on our end to minimize the appearance.
