Bob, if the wood is really worn, you probably should replace it but I'll still bet that if the cabinet slide surface is worn, the bottom of the drawer side will be too. When you have replaced the worn wood, the big secret is still to use the Nylo-Tape or something like it to reduce the friction and prevent wear in the future.
