Bruce, thanks for your answer, but now I have a few more questions, we had the chimney cleaned by an "expert" , a chimney sweep company, and he advised us that everything is wrong with it, he claims that by putting a flash light down from the top he was able to see pin holes, in a lined chimney. Further, he found rust at the thimble and claims this is a fire hazard, and do not start any fires, we have another chimney sweep/repair expert coming out on Monday.

We are trying to determine the life expectancy of one of these units, we have had it cleaned at least once a year every year, there is no tar or oil build up, just some fine dust, black. We only burn hard woods, and the chimeny sweep even said it was exceptionally clean and well taken care of.

What can we expect price wise, do you have any idea, what new technology should we be looking for it any, and what kind of guarantee.

We underderstand that these do not last forever, but we just want to be sure we are not being ripped off by a Flue replacement salesman as you said.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
