wooden garage doors

We are considering covering our current 3 Wayne Dalton steel garage doors (Waynegard Series) with wood, probably cedar. The doors are only two years old but we really want the clear wood look. Unfortunately, our original builder did not give us any options. Hence we ended up with the prepainted steel doors. Likewise, cost now is a factor and we figure that we can cover the doors for a fraction of the cost of new wooden doors.

I realize that the door springs will have to be adjusted for the additional weight and that the door will have to be recessed to accommodate the wood. But, I have questions concerning the BEST way of attaching the wood to the steel doors.

What type of glue would you use and would you also fasten it from the back with stainless fasteners? Do you have any recommendations on where I could get any design plans? I appreciate your advice! Thanks in advance,
