sold both: both have their good and bad points. My personal feeling is that appearance is a first consideration, and in my opinion the difference between wood and laminate is the same between buying a nice wood desk and a cheaper need-to-assemble desk from Office Depot that has a "picture" of wood. Check the warranties: is the product scratch proof or merely scratch resistant? Same for stain "resistance", etc. And repairs are almost impossible with the laminates. My advice is spend more and get an unfinished floor installed, that is sanded and filled in placed, stained and urethaned to provide a monolithic surface that will not let moisture penetrate between joints.
