I'm considering the purchase of an old home(early 1800s) that has wood on 1/3 of the foundation. The other 2/3 of the foundation is stone. I've been told the wood is pressure treated. The basement appears dry, and the house feels "solid." If I decide to buy this property, I will have an inspection. In the interim, however, should this wood foundation raise *major* red flags? If there is significant restoration involved, what are estimated costs? I appreciate your advice.
