Wood Floors, refinishing

Posted by Sherry on August 19th, 1999 02:18 PM

Hello everyone! Recently I purchased my Grandparents home. The house has not been lived in, in about 15 years, I'm trying to do things as near as what my PawPaw would do as possible.

Paw Paw was a floor man, he had put new wood floors in the house before he passed away, however, someone else put cheap carpet which they glued down.

After talking with my Granny she said PawPaw used something called "Horn Finish" on the floors. He would only use this on archetectural customers floors, but used it on his own floors also.

Granny said that the older and more wax you put on these floors the prettier they would get. I've called local "wood floor" refinishers and NOONE knows what she is talking about!!!

The only thing Granny knew for sure about this product is that it was special ordered from New York.

Does anyone have ANY idea what it is??? Do they still make it? Is there another similar product?
