The flooring was installed as part of the construction of a new post and beam home. The contractor only built the shell and we are doing the finishing. Before the floor was finished, we closed the house for the winter (it's a summer home) leaving the heat on very low to prevent freezing. The thermostat broke and the furnace ran continuously for 6 to 8 weeks making the inside temperature 38 celsius and very dry. That's when the floor dried out and the grooves opened up. There was also some warping but not too serious.
