wood block floor

I have built a stone and timberframe blacksmith shop that looks very old. A concrete floor looks too modern and is hard on the feet.

Many old factories and shops had wood block floors. Can you tell me about wood type, block thickness, etc.

I could also go with wide rough sawn oak plank flooring nailed into treated 4 x 6's embedded into the dry dirt floor.

Your thoughts?

Thanks in advance.
