rip some furring strips just wide enough for the peg back end to enter and turn. You will have to measure the min clearance.

Also, something else that works great. You know those plastic gutter ferrels? With a hax saw, they make super spacers. On the ends of the peg board, line up a hole and line up the center of the sawed off plastic thing and send a screw down that alley and its done.
