wiring up a ceiling fan and light

I think you stated that you have a single wall switch to control the fan and its light, if this is the case then you simply wire the white wires together and both the black and blue wire for the fan and light to the black or red wire coming from the wall switch (and that depends on which of the two are wired to the wall switch). If you have a wall switch for the fan and a separate wall switch for the light on the fan then wire the black wire to the black wire and the blue wire to the red wire (this assumes that the black and red wires come from the two wall switches) Hope this helps let us know how it turned out and which configuration of wall switches you really do have.
