wiring problem

Posted by Jerry on March 20th, 2002 08:17 PM

I'll try and make this short and to the point. I have an outlet in the garage powered from an outdoor outlet about 2' away. The indoor outlet is hot. I wired in a light switch for a light fixture (the round plastic type) right above the outlet this way: Neutral wire from outlet to neutral side on light fixture. Hot wire from outlet to one screw on the switch. Hot wire from other screw on switch to hot side on light fixture. After I had the light fixture mounted and wired I noticed no grd. screw on the fixture. I grded. the switch to the outlet. The light will only work with the pull string on the fixture. Is it because the fixture is'nt grded it won't work with switch?
