Wiring a remote to a ceiling fan with lights.

Posted by Todd Gilligan on May 2nd, 2003 09:02 PM

The existing configuration was a ceiling fan with variable speed on one pull chain and lights "on" or "off" on the other pull chain. There is also a switch on the fan to change the blade rotation direction. I bought a wireless remote with a transmitter that gets hidden (after you wire it ) in the fan's canopy. Since I'm basically by-passing the (original)hard-wired configuration, that leaves a whole mess of skinny wires un accounted for once you've hooked up the obvious blacks and whites. ain't so obvious. Thr transmitter that receives a signal from the remote has two wires(Black and white) that go to the circuit and then 3 wires(Black, white and blue) that go to the fan. My circuit or the wires that come out of the ceing are black, white green and blue. H E L P!
