With the blower switch in the on position , take the blue wire and touch it to the red wire. If red is hot, you will hear the fan kick on, if blue is conected to the fan at the relay. When you touch the two togather you will see a spark, no fear, this is only 24 volts. After a little thought, if the fan is running when you go to the thermostat, and none of the wires that you disconnect shuts the fan off , I can only assume your fan is wired to the hot lead somewhere.
