just came across your question re: wooden decks with cable railing (2 years later). We are now doing same. Did you have any luck? Any tips? We are using 1/8" cable and attaching to end 2 x 4 posts and then through 2 x 4s every 36 or 40 inches. Leaving handrail in place. securing with screw eye hooks on ends and screw-on clamps. Easier to not screw down eye hooks completely, but first screw down clamps and then tighten down eye hooks. this way it can be a one person job. Easy to cut cable to length in a vice using a hacksaw. We are also looking for a company that can install a metal and stainless steel cable staircase railing system indoors. Any ideas?
