In reply to Need Your $.10 About A Question On Tar Papering My Shed Roof by J Jacobs on November 18th, 1997 12:43 PM [Go to top of thread]

Hi J
Funny you should raise this issue. I will shortly be building a second outdoor shed (my 12 X 16 is getting tooooo crowded), the roof of which I am planning on sheathing, tar papering and 3-tabbing....regardless of what the temp is outside (Maryland). In my younger days, I can remember working for a roofing sub, installing asphalt/fiberglas shingles in VERY cold weather. All I remember was using low temp plastic tar on the rake ends and valley lap joints. Don't ever remember any call-backs.

Do you think it unwise to install standard 3-tab in cool (40ish) degree weather?

Thanks

Bruce M
