window coverings

Posted by D Tully on September 27th, 2000 10:31 PM

I live in a suburb of Chicago where the houses are about 20ft
apart. My neighbors to the north have just re-stuccoed their
house. It used to be beige, now it is a sea green color. When
the sun reflects off the new color my house is filled with a
green glow. I have five windows on the north side of my home:
3 small windows - one in the living room and two in walk-in
closets and two regular size double-hung in the first floor

Is there some type of material I can hang on the windows or
apply to the glass that would help me change the color of the
incoming light? I thought perhaps there is some product I
might be able to use to filter out the blue and just allow
the yellow light to enter.

There is a 2-flat about 10 feet to the south of my house, so
I really don't get direct sunlight during the day. I love a
bright and sunny home and have counted on the reflected north
light for that purpose. I have minimal window coverings to
let the light in and don't want to lose that light.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
