Window Condensation

Posted by stevecoop on September 30th, 2004 02:49 PM

I have a 4-year old house with vinyl window frames. I am having a problem with condensation on the windows in the winter when it's cold outside. It is most apparent frist thing in the morning when the blinds have been shut all night. I have very efficient double-honeycomb type fabric blinds that fit in the window "cavity" and cover the entire length of the window.

I understand the physics of what is happening - moist air trapped behind the blinds is hitting the cold glass which is below the dew point ... bla bla bla. What I don't know is how to stop it. My house is usually around 25%-30% RH in the winter which I believe is normal.

The problem goes away if I leave the blinds open because air is constantly "sweeping" across the windows. So other than using that as my solution, what can I do?
