Or Beloit (cold to not so cold) the frost is going to heave the driveway relative to the garage floor. Especially if the garage is attached.
As a minimum, I would have the contractor saw cut a line across the front of the garage so the concrete has an even line to crack at.
If the contractor says not to worry, ask him to show you some jobs he has done two to three years ago that you can inspect. Don't look at last years jobs, since the frost this past winter was so mild.
If this contractor has some magic formula to prevent heaving and cracking in a climate that has 2 to 3 feet of frost penetration, we would certainly like to hear what it is.
