need an upgrade would depend on several things, but most notably an inability of your current service to meet your needs. In new construction, the square footage, electrical loads and your code jurisdiction's requirements are evaluated to determine service sizing. If you have an existing service, you would need to upgrade if adding square footage and/or substantial new electrical loads. Since you don't mention electric heat, swimming pool or hot tub heaters or a new big shop, I suspect your current service would be just fine if kept in good condition. To give a better answer would require knowing why you asked this question. What made you think you might need a bigger service? Luck, Kizmet
