I contracted with my builder to add a sunroom on a 4" thick slab of concete that they were to pour.

After it was framed out by the contractor , I foundthe depth to be 3 to 3 1/2 inches.

When I questioned the contractor , he said that since framing for concrete work is done using wooden 2x4's ,(WHICH ARE ONLY 3 1/2") , THE SLAB WILL ALWAYS ALSO BE ONLY 3 1/2" THICK".

He said this is understood in the industry , so 4 inches is really 3 1/2inches.

Am I being misled? Can't a contractor pour an actual 4" slab if it calls for it in the contract?

Thank you for your assistance.
