be correct and should allow only one switch to control either the light or the fan and not both. I suggest you recheck your wiring to make sure you have not crosswired something. if you truly have two wall switches installed and each one has its own power run (black wire) running down from the ceiling box--these two you can put to either switch, should not matter-----BUT make sure both of these black hot wires is on the bottom screw terminal of each switch. then you simply need to verify that each white wire that pair up with the black runs back to the switch get connected to the remaining switch terminals. and the fan/light white does connect to the white wire paired up with the source/hot wire in the ceiling. then all should work correctly. sounds like a miswire!!!good luck LJ
