We have a floor that has five layers of linoleum and plywood on it. If we were to go much higher you would trip on it when coming from the living room. The linoleum that is there looks horrible, but the cost of tearing up all that linoleum would be more than we could pay because it probably has asbestos in it and we would have to hire a specialist to take it up. Right now we can not afford that. But, it looks so ugly. Our thought was if we filled in the areas that have been gouged with fix-all and then went and bought the cheapest linoleum on the market we could just glue it right over the top of this. Even though we know that it would have to be replaced in a couple of years anyway, at least it would look better than it does now while we save up to do it the right way. The problem lies with we think that putting 1/4 inch plywood between the layers would just make in too high and people would trip on the entrance. Is there anyone out there who would know if we are going to be very sorry if we did this. It just seems like, how could it look any worse than it does right now?
