What To DO ...

In reply to Rolling of glue-down hardwood flooring. by Hotwire on May 11th, 2001 07:32 PM [Go to top of thread]

Hi Hotwire,

The roller should fit in sideways. First, lay a piece of specially-made-rubber-backed carpeting that's APPROVED as a Non-Scratch Carpet/Mat for hardwood floors. (Using 'regular carpeting' may scratch the finish on the floor.) Lay the carpet PERPENDICULAR to the door. Lay the roller the say direction. PUSH the roller into the closet, and roll. IF you can only roll the doorway, on in, that's just fine. Do realize, you DON'T walk into your 'small closet'. And if you do, it's only at the entrance which is where you'll roll, at a minimum. Don't try to remove/move the rug/pad that you're using to get the roller into the closet. Its backing prevents movement (as it should. K-Mart sells them for sure.)

As for the rest of the closet, you can stack some books or cinder blocks or whatever for a day or 2. Just be sure to put the aformentioned type of floor covering down first (then maybe a piece of 'old rug' on top to protect the bottom-most carpet/mat from getting ruined.)

My best to ya and hope this helps.
