I have a duplex, built in 1978. It has board and batten siding. All along the bottom edge, it is rotting and crumbling. there is some sort of green plastic or fiberglass lining peering out from behind every so often.
Every house in the neighborhood appears to have had this problem at one time or another and most every one has a board applied horizontally along the bottom edge to repair the rot. Yes, they do look nice because they were repaired and painted to match.
My question...is it okay to apply this board along the bottom edge or will the rot continue? Perhaps I should have the whole siding replaced?Other than this problem, the house looks very nice!
Thanks in advance for any comments on this subject. Sorry for being so wordy...but I can't help it!!!
