If the granite you plan to cut is 1/2" thick or less I would recommend at minimum a 7" diamond blade, water fed wet saw with at least 1/2 horsepower or more. It must not be dry cut.
The thicker the granite the larger the saw you will need.
If you are looking to just "split" the granite from blocks for say a stairway then that is an entirely different process which requires a certain level of professional skill.
Tile saws are available for rent at many home improvement and tool rental stores.
