Marisa........

Ditto to the Dodgeman's advise and comments......It's to easy to offend or be offended by the tone of some messages.......onward:

Get rid of the insulation and plastic.........bag and discard in the trash.......don't drag it thru the house use a window/door opening for removal.....wear a mask.........

Wash ALL surfaces with plain old soap and water........YES, all surfaces should pass the white glove test........I know it's a monumental task.........your intention is to remove the mold and the spores that cause it..........You don't have to KILL it just remove it......

Also remove any 'punky' wood, wet/old cardboard, soft drywall, any soft surface that cannot be cleaned and shows sign of mold/contamination........

Replace the furnace a/c filter with a HEPA filter and change it regularly........Vaccuum with a good quality Hepa rated vac or a powerful whole-house system that vents the air to to exterior.....AIRBORNE SPORES are the problem in the living space........

Ditto Dodgeman....You need a better dehumidifier...You expect at least a gallon a day minimum.......drain it to the sump and cover the sump pit with an inverted trash container to minimize the evaporation......

DON'T use any poly vapor barrier in the basement.......

If the rest of the original basement is dry.....try sealing it off from this space while remediation efforts are under way ..........

How bad are the hubby's allergies? You can buy better stand alone air-filters-purifiers.......Ozone generators(you can not be/stay in the area during use).......check the existing A/C ducts for contamination.........

Later......good luck Doug
