West Texas Weather(ed) Doors

HELP! My husband is NOT a handyman. I do most of the "handymanning" around the house. My problems are many but the one that concerns me the most is my front doors. They are (were) a beautiful set of double doors with lots of scroll work on the outside. Now, they are cracked, dryed out, and looking helpless! They cry and cry for attention - but I don't know how to restore them to their original beauty. Can you help me with some easy tips and tricks and step-by-step procedures? Please keep in mind that I'm 47, a woman (weaker only in muscular strength and ability to lift heavy objects) and a working Mom. Husband is a great guy - but sadly VERY lacking in the industrial arts end of the spectrum. Thanks for your time.
