CONCUR WITH BIRD DROP SOUP! CISTERNS ARE MORE PRONE TO GROUND LEVEL CONTAMINATION (RUN OFF, DEAD CRITTERS, ETC.) AND SHOULD BE MONITORED FREQUENTLY. HERE IN THE NE, COLIFORM BACTERIA IS FREQUENTLY FOUND AND THESE SUPPLIES MUST BE TREATED WITH EITHER A UV UNIT OR CHLORINATION/DECHLORINATION UNITS.

I'D GO WITH THE WELL, BUT STILL TEST THE WATER AND TREAT ACCORDINGLY
