It is a very old garage. How old I can not say. Everything is leaning. It has a peak roof which is in dire need of replacement. I did not want to fix the roof until I fixed the leaning. A lot of the wood is rotted because of the roof. As for bottom plates, sill, foundation, and 'timbers', that is a little too technical for me.
Anyway, our insurance company came out a few weeks ago, looked at our garage and told us that they will no longer insure it. Mainly because of the roof they said but the leaning was obvious. They did not even ask if we were going to fix it. They simply asked if we were going to replace it.
It is a two car garage. Will it be expense to replace it with the most basic simple two car garage? Will it be difficult to build one myself (with the help of friends of course)? This would be a last resort. What would I be better off doing?
