because, how do you expect a flooring like Pergo to adhere to a bumpy type floor, even if it may be floating?

Floor levelor is actually for isolated holes and pockets in order to smooth them out.

In your case, for a proper fit, you need to level your flooring area as much as possible. If not, the pergo will bounce, squeak, rock, move, and have a strange feel when you walk on it.

Now, you can have your entire floor leveled by pros that do this big of job. It would be similar to laying a sidewalk in that it would be screeded, leveled, and smoothed out.

You could possibly get away with a double or triple layer of the membrane that is sandwiched between the pergo and the actual floor.

You need to check some things out first.
