I would suggest that you consider working for a company that actually does this. One that is stable in the industry and that has a good reputation. Learn at that companies expense and glean that experience and know how. This way if you decide not to persue this, it will not cost you anything but time invested and not allot of up front $$$$ of your own.

Then after you learn the business, the competition and the market, you can make the decision to break in and start off. The first 5 years are very crucial and you are going in with out ONE customer, no advertising, no word or mouth, no experience, and no machinery.
