Hi Jo,

... No, I haven't painted on myself (because I wouldn't do it.) As Henry once said, "You'd be better off saving your $$$ for a new floor than throwing $$$ at a job that won't look that nice AND need replacement in the near future anyway."

(Well put, Henry.) Anyway, you walk on your floor; you don't sleep on it. In other words, because of the type of material you're painting AND given the fact that you walk on it, drop things on it, have pets on it, and so on, it is a 'finish' that won't last very long. It doesn't ABSORBE the paint; it mearly is 'bonded' to the surface. (Wood will absorbe AND wear much better.)

So, to help w/my explanation and your decision, I've attached a few WEB links.

DIY Search and and Murals Plus

My best to ya and hope this helps.
