I think I have your answer. I read recently that .5 drywall has an r-value of .45 ...

If you want, you can ctc The Gypsum Folks. The publication I read about the .45 on the .5 drywall is in this HUGE pdf file: Insulation Info. When and if you download it, search for drywall. Kinda read the data in the 5th hit, give or take. Look for the .45 statement.
