It is only normal and to be expected that the patch will show. The new patch is new and the surrounding carpet has had traffic. it will blend in with time and traffic.

There is carpet tape that is affixed to both sides and corners and is activated by applying a warm to hot iron on the top side of the carpet to heat and melt the underlying tape and make a good seal.

The directions are very important to follow when doing this operation. Too much heat and you will burn or make the poly shine. Do be careful.
