Hi Bill,

At first, I'd suspect that any solvent-based paint will 'attack' the asphalt, thus, causing the roof to prematurely break down. At the same time, the paint will probably flake and peel off.

As for latex paint, I don't think it will adhere to the asphalt. There are vinyl-based paints out there that MIGHT work but I think they're mainly for use on metal. It can't hurt to check.

I have to ask, Bill, but what's up with all this? Did you spill some orange-brown paint on the roof, whereas it's 'stained' now? (Someone has to ask this question ...)
