Lisa, go this site ,,,it is a HVAC help forum for more expert help.
an excerpt from a post on that forum regarding a similar problem as yours with a heat pump unit.
IF it is a heat pump as Harold inquired:::
If your unit has a reset button, it will be at the outdoor unit and should be visible from the outside but you may have to take off the cover and look around. I'm a little concerned that it sounds like you heat strips are also not working. Look inside the indoor unit for some circuit breakers to see if any are off or tripped. The emergency heat should work independently of the outdoor unit. You may have more than one problem. [I'm sure you wanted to hear that] If you do in fact find a tripped reset at the outdoor unit, make sure your filter is clean and the return air grille isn't blocked/obstructed.
If your heating system is a conventional electric heating system though ...my suspicions about a faulty relay were the same as yours. you need to find a good sketch/schematic of your control system from thermostat to heater blower. good luck LJ
