Can't say that I have tried WD-40 on wood but I have wiped crayon off the walls with it and repainted a couple of hours later with no problems. If you use naptha or mineral spirits, you are liable to end up having to refinish the whole floor. Naptha has taken the shine off epoxy paint, for me. Many floor care products contain silicone so unless the floor had nothing but Johnson's Wax, they are probably already there. I can't say that I would have a wood floor in the kitchen but WD-40 is still what I would use. But make up your own mind.
