Jennifer is right. A water softener is what you need to neutralize the calcium and minerals in your water. Not only is it hard on all your piping, but it will make your water heater last longer, and all your clothes. Many cities and towns do not soften their water. They drill wells down into the aquafer and feed the city systems. Water pulls out the calcium and minerals from the surrounding rocks.
