Hi Howard: I was told that you need at least 40 lbs of pressure for your softener to work properly, maybe you can just up your pressure switch or replace it with a higher one first to see if this works. I just bought a Rainsoft softner myself same problem low pressure 20 on the low side where it turns the pump on & it kicks off at 40 so far I've had bad luck trying to get the soft water benefits that rainsoft promised. If you do get a new one dont buy from Rainsoft.4,500.00 its a rip off.I wish I had of checked into the different companies first. boy did I learn a expensive lesson I'll never make again. Sears best is 999.99 their cheapest 300.00 and a MacClean is around 800.00 Good luck
