Water Pressure Drop

Posted by KMC on June 16th, 2001 03:50 PM

I've been experiencing a water pressure drop over the past few months and wondered if anyone had suggestions on what it could be. I believe it is a localized problem with our house, haven't heard of any neighbors having the same problem.

We are on City water supply. Low pressure with hot and cold water. Noticed a drop in late winter, and thought it was just due to cold temperatures outside. But the problem has gotten worse. Our local plumbing store thought it might be that the original pipe coming from the water main to the house may never have been replaced and could be steel. This isn't confirmed. So, it may be rusted, had a peice inside break loose and that's blocking part of the pipe.

I just wanted a second opinion on what else it could be, since this is a VERY expensive fix if that is the problem. Funny how everyone knows how to fix a clogged drainage pipe, but not a clogged supply pipe. :) Thanks for any advise.
