water on hardwood floors

Posted by Jac on October 5th, 1999 09:28 AM

I have a split level home, four dogs 2 cats. I live on an acreage where the animals are used to coming in and out of the house on their own. I would like to install hardwood floor in my living room, dining room and hallway. Now with the animals coming in and out from outside with mud, snow on their feet as well as on their coats, what problems could I have with the hardwood floors if I am not there to clean up the melted snow? I have read that water is bad for the flooring. Thanks
