Water in my duct work!

Posted by Paul Parthun on March 25th, 1998 02:30 PM

Last month I posted about excess moisture in my house. I found the problem and it was strange enough to share with everyone. My water softner discharge line is connected to a 'T' on my sewer line. A water drain line from my furnace is connected to the other side of this 'T'. When my water softner was discharging water, the water was being forced backwards into the drain line on my furnace. From here the water would drain down into my duct work. When ever my furnace turned on, it would blow moist air all over my house!! Talk about a humidifier system! I have since installed a seperate drain line for my water softner. This is my 2nd year in the house and I'm still learning the quirks from the previous owner/builder.
